Staff Correspondent: Dr Md Nazimuddin, father of Ahmed Rajib Haider, expressed dissatisfaction over the High Court (HC) verdict saying that the punishment of the six accused who have been given imprisonment in different terms has not been enhanced.

Nazimuddin told journalists while expressing his reaction over the HC verdict on Sunday morning.

“The eight accused of the case are self proclaimed and proved terrorists, but all of them did not get capital punishment. I can’t accept this verdict,” he said.

He also said that the incumbent government is promise bound to curb militancy and tells “zero tolerance” about militancy, but he did not get any reflection of the government’s stand in the trial of this case.

In reply to a question, Nazimuddin said he will decide after consulting his lawyers whether he will move an appeal to the Appellate Division of the SC to enhance the punishment of the six accused who have been given imprisonment in different periods.

Earlier on the day, the High Court (HC) upheld the verdict of a lower court that sentenced two people to death and six others, including the chief of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), to different jail terms, in a case filed for killing blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider.
