Body recovered from hotel in capital

Staff Correspondent: A body was recovered from a hotel room in the capital's Farmgate area on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Shafiq Ahmed Chowdhury, 50.

Police broke through the door and found his dead body there. Some alcohol was also found in the room, confirmed Assistant Sub-Inspector of Tejgaon Police Station Mostafizur Rahman.
He said, "Shafiq checked in on January 10, 2017.On Friday morning, when hotel staff knocked at his door of room 710, he did not respond. Later, we recovered the body when the hotel authorities informed the matter to police."
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) to ascertain the reason of death, he added.

Shafiq hailed from Lalkhan Bazar area of Chittagong, police said.
