Budget session begins June 5

Secretariat Correspondent: Parliament will go into the Budget session on June 5 (Tuesday) for 2018-2019 fiscal year.

The budget session chaired by the Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will start at 11:00am on the day.

Following two days (June 7), Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is supposed to place the budget for 2018-2019 fiscal year in the parliament which will be passed on June 30.

Before the House goes into the budget session, the meeting of Business Advisory Committee will be held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair to fix duration and businesses of the session.

It will be last budget for the incumbent Awami League (AL) government in this tenure.

It will be 47th budget for the country’s history while fifth for the current government and 12th for Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith.

Muhith placed his first budget in the parliament for 1982-1983 fiscal year during the tenure of former president Hussein Muhammad Ershad.

Earlier, BNP’s late Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman also presented 12 budgets.
