CCC Polls: Voting suspended in one centre

Staff Correspondent, Comilla: Voting at Comilla Government City College (known as commerce college) has been suspended as miscreants blasted several handmade bombs and tried to take control of the centre during the Comilla City Corporation (CCC) polls.

Returning officer Rakib Uddin Mondal directed to stop voting at the centre around 12:00pm on Thursday.

BNP nominated mayoral candidate Monirul Islam Sakku alleged to the returning officer while he visited the centre that ballot papers had been snatched away from the polling station. Later, the returning officer directed to suspend voting at the centre.

Earlier around 11:00am, miscreants blasted some 10 to 15 handmade bombs to take control at the station, creating panic among the voters.

To bring the situation under control, law enforcers fired tear shells. Later, an unexploded cocktail was found beside the polling station.
