CEC says thanks to Mahbub Talukder

Staff Correspondent: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said thanks to election commissioner Mahbub Talukder and other officials who worked to remove promotion complications.

CEC came up with the thanks in a meeting with field-level officers over the preparation for the 11th general election at the auditorium of Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon on Tuesday.

Nurul Huda said, “Many of the EC officials got promotions after long days. I thanked to those who worked specially commissioner Mahbub Talukder, secretary, additional secretary and others. Many experienced officials were deprived of promotions for different reasons.”

Mahbub Talukder walked out of an election preparatory meeting of the commission placing a note of dissent on Monday.

He left the meeting room around ten minutes after start of the meeting chaired by the CEC at Nirbachan Bhaban. Later, Mahbub Talukder explained before the media why he boycotted the meeting.

“I wanted to present some proposals during the meeting to make the next general election free, fair, impartial and acceptable to all, but I was not allowed,” he said.
