CID begins probe into Nusrat murder

Senior Correspondent: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police has initiated an investigation over the alleged financial transaction in connection with the murder of Feni’s female madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

Officials said the CID will look into whether there was any crime committed in money laundering case.

Senior Assistant Police Super of CID Sharmin Jahan told this to risingbd on Friday noon.

“There was an allegation of money transaction in the Nusrat murder. CID will look into the source of that finance and financer,” she said.

A press briefing will be held in this connection tomorrow (Saturday) morning, Sharmin added.

The victim, a resident of Sonagazi Municipality in Feni, went to the local Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa on April 6 to sit for Alim exams, equivalent to Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC).

Some miscreants called her to the roof and set fire to her after pouring kerosene on her.

Police and others rescued her after hearing her cry and took her to Sonagazi Upazila Health complex from where she was shifted to the Feni General Hospital before transferring to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

After battling for five days, Nusrat succumbed to her burn injuries at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of the DMCH on April 10.
