Cabinet approves Narcotics Control Act-2018

Secretariat Correspondent: The cabinet has approved the draft of “Narcotics Control Act-2018” with a provision of death penalty for trading yaba.
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told this the journalists at the Secretariat on Monday following a cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s office in the capital’s Tejgaon with the head of the cabinet in the chair.
Under new law, if anyone is found with less than five grams of the drug, he or she can be sentenced to one to five years in prison.
And if the yaba traders are found with more than 25 grams, the maximum punishment is death penalty.
The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) drafted the law.
