Cabinet approves draft online media guideline

Senior Correspondent: The cabinet on Monday approved the draft of the National Online Mass Media Guideline 2017.

The approval was given to bring the country’s online news media under regulation.

Information ministry placed the draft guideline in the weekly cabinet meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad complex with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed reporters after the meeting this noon.

But all the newspapers and televisions already registered do not require further registration with the proposed National Broadcast Commission.

The information ministry would look after the matter until the broadcast commission is established, Mohammad Shafiul Alam said.
