Cabinet gives nod to Media Employee Act

Secretariat Correspondent:  The Cabinet has endorsed the draft of Media Employee Act- 2018 which involves job regulations of a journalist.

It was approved at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Secretariat on Monday.

Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam briefed reporters after the meeting, revealing in summary the entails of the laws.

Under the proposed law, a separate wage board will be formed by the government which will elaborate the basic pay, amenities and all facilities of a journalist’s service.

Also, the new law will handle all the offences regarding employment of a journalist.
