Canada university student disappears in Dhaka

Staff Correspondent: A student of a university in Canada, Ishraq Ahmad (20), has gone missing from the capital’s Danmondi area.

Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Lati said Ishraq Ahmad went missing from Dhanmondi on August 26. He had gone out with friends in the evening, but never returned. His family has filed a general diary (GD) with the Dhanmondi police station in this regard.

His father, readymade garments businessman Jamaluddin Ahmad, filed the GD stating that Ishraq had gone out with friends to eat at the Star Kabab area, but hadn’t returned home.

Family sources said that he had passed his A levels from Maple Leaf school and last year went to study at McGill University in Canada.

He came home on holiday this June and supposed to go back to Canada after Eid, on 3 September. Ishraq is the eldest of Jamaluddin’s three sons.
