Cases filed under section 57 to continue: IGP

Staff Correspondent: Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque said that the cases under section 57 will be continued. There is no bar to continue the cases although the section 57 has been revoked.

The IGP made the opinion while addressing newsmen after a programme at police headquarters in the capital on Monday afternoon.

He said the approvals were taken from police headquarters before filing any cases under section 57. Permissions were given after getting the authentication of the cases.

"There will be no bar to continue the cases as the cases were filed before revoking the section. And those who were arrested in the case, they have to follow legal procedure," he added.
