Chattogram DIG (prison), Jail Super transferred

Staff Correspondent: Chattogram Division’s deputy inspector general (DIG) Partha Kumar Banik and Senior Prison Superintendent Prashanta Kumar Banik have been transferred to Sylhet and Jashore.   

The two officials were transferred to the new postings following various types of irregularities in Chattogram central jail, Assistant Director General of Prison Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mamun confirmed.

Sources said that the two officials were transferred following an order from the Home Ministry.

DIG AKM Fazlul Haque of Sylhet Division was transferred to DIG post of Chattogram jail division while Mohammad Kamal Hossain of Jashore Central Jail was ordered to join the Senior Jail Super post of Chattogram, according to the same order.

On October 26, police arrested Chattogram district jailer Sohail Rana with Tk 44.33 lakh, huge numbers of bank cheques, Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) papers and some bottles of phensedyl. Later, he disclosed that the huge amount of cash money were earned through corruption in Chattogram jail.
