Chawkbazar fire: Probe report on May 8

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has fixed May 8 for the submission of probe report in a case filed over the deadly ChawkBazar fire incident in the capital.

Dhaka's additional chief metropolitan magistrate Kaysarul Islam fixed the new date as investigation officer in the case failed to submit the report today.

Earlier on Tuesday, the two sons of the owner of Haji Wahed Mansion surrendered before the court. Later, the court sent them to jail rejecting their bail plea.

On February 20, the deadly fire had ravaged several multi-storey buildings housing shops and chemical and plastic warehouses on Nanda Kumar Lane at Chawkbazar’s Churihatta intersection. Apart from killing 70 people, the fire had left scores of others with severe injuries.
