Chittagong Test ends with draw

Sports Correspondent: The first Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka ended in a draw as both captains agreed to shake hands with only 17 overs remaining on Day 5.

Score: Bangladesh 307/5 (100 overs)

Lead: 107 runs

Mahudullah Riyad remained not out on 28 while Mosaddek Hossain was unbeaten on eight from 53 deliveries. Imrul Kayes, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahman all fell in the last session on Day 4 which brought a light hope of victory for the Lankans. But a dashing century by Mominul Haque, together with Liton Das's well-constructed 94, helped Bangladesh end with a draw on the 5 and final day at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Sunday.

Mominul Haque scored 105 runs of 174 balls with five boundaries and two over boundaries in the 4 wicket stand. Besides, Liton Das gave him a good support contributing 94 runs off 182 balls hitting 11 boundaries.

However, the 180-run fourth-wicket partnership between Mominul Haque and Liton Das eventually pulled Bangladesh out from the hole they were digging themselves into and enabled them to draw the Test match.

Bangladeshi Top order batsman Mominul Haque became man of the match.

Mominul is the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score century in both the innings of a test match scoring back to back century against Sri Lanka in the first test of the two-match series on the 5th and final day at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

Bangladesh had posted 513 runs in their first innings with a healthy score of 176 runs from Mominul. In reply, the Sri Lankans scored 713 runs losing nine wickets and declared the innings.
