Coaching centres to remain closed from Friday

Senior Reporter: The education ministry has decided to shut down all coaching centres from Friday ahead of the SSC and equivalent examinations scheduled for February 1.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid disclosed this at a press briefing at the education ministry on Thursday noon after the meeting of national monitoring committee.

Representatives from different ministries and law enforcing agencies attended the meeting.

The education minister said, “Various steps have been taken to stop question paper leaks as we are desperate and aggressive to prevent question paper leaks”.

Students will have to enter and take sits at their respective centres 30 minutes before the beginning of the tests. Envelope of question papers will not be unsealed before 30 minutes of the exams.

“If anybody violates this instruction, officials concerned will take instant action against the violators” Nahid said.

Teachers and officers would not be allowed to carry any mobile phone in the exam halls. Only centre secretary will allow carrying normal phone not smart phone, the minister said while talking to reporters.

 

He also said discussion is going on with the relevant authorities to suspend operations of Facebook for a limited period during the examinations.

“We have taken a decision to maintain the same quality of question papers and the evaluation system in all boards”, the minister added.
