Coal scam: MD among 4 officials banned from leaving country

Staff Correspondent: Four top officials including managing director (MD) of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Ltd (BCMCL) have been blacklisted from leaving the country over allegedly disappearance of 1.16 lakh tonnes of coal, worth about Tk 200 crore.

The officials are BCMCL’s managing director Habib Uddin Ahmed, general manager (Admin and company secretariat) Abul Kashem, general manager (mine operation) Nur-Uz Zaman Chowdhury and deputy general manager (store) Khaledul Islam.

The Anti-Corruption Corruption (ACC) issued four separate letters to the Immigration and Passport Directorate, imposing ban on leaving the country for the four officials on Tuesday.

A top official source of the watchdog committee confirmed the news to risingbd.
