Comilla Mayor Sakku gets permanent bail

Staff Correspondent: Comilla City Corporation Mayor and BNP leader Monirul Haque Sakku has got a permanent bail in a graft case filed on charges of hiding wealth information and amassing wealth illegally.

Sakku's interim bail period expired on Wednesday and he applied for the permanent bail. After the hearing, Senior Special Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah granted permanent bail to him.

At the same time, the court fixed June 12 for hearing on the transfer of the case to Special Judge-8 and charge framing.

On April 18, Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Molla issued an arrest warrant against Sakku after taking a charge sheet into cognisance against Sakku in the case.

Then on May 9, he surrendered before the court and secured bail. Then a Dhaka court granted bail to Sakku till May 24 in the graft case.

On 7 January 2008, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Shaheen Ara Momtaj filed the case with Ramna Police Station.

On February 4, 2016, the same official submitted charge sheets to the court.
