Committee activities being strengthened to shut coaching

Staff Correspondent: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said activities of the monitoring committee formed to implement "Policy 2012 to stop teachers from doing coaching business in educational institutions have been strengthened.

The Minister came up with the statement while replying to a question made by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) lawmaker Nazmul Haque Prodhan in the parliament session on Saturday.

“Separate committees were formed in metropolitan or division, district and upazila level to implement the policy,” he said.

He said, “Responding to the recommendations of the committees, punitive measures are also being taken against those teachers who are involved in coaching business. The activities of the committees are helping to shut down the coaching trade.”

Minister said, “Actually it was understood that government teachers who remain in a same institutions for long days, most of them are involved in coaching business.”

“Taking the matter incognisance, activities of promotion to the teachers and transferring them to other institutions are going on,” he added.
