Committee formed to probe into graft of DIG Mizan

Senior Correspondent: Police Headquarters formed a committee to investigate into bribery allegations against its Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mizanur Rahman.

Confirming the matter to risingbd on Tuesday, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Sohel Rana said, “Action will be taken after receiving the investigation report.”

Mainur Rahman Chwodhury, Additional Inspector General (Admin and Operation) of Police (IGP), will head the committee.

The committee also comprises of Additional IGP (Finance and Development) Shahabuddin Koraishi, and Superintendent of Police at Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Mia Masud Hossain.

The committee has been formed to investigate the bribery allegations against DIG Mizan, said Sohel Rana.

According to the media reports, DIG Mizan was engaged in misconduct and corruption while on duty. His alleged involvement in accumulating wealth from unknown sources was very evident.

On January 9 this year, Mizanur Rahman was withdrawn from his position due to allegations of abducting a young woman at gunpoint and forcing her to marry him.
