Senior Correspondent: Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam said the committee formed by the government to review the existing quota system will seek court directives before taking any decision over freedom fighter quota.
The cabinet secretary said this while briefing reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting held at the secretariat on Monday.
“The recommendation of the committee is almost finalised over the quota. The committee will propose abolition of almost all the quotas in public services giving priority to talent,” Shafiul Alam said.
In April, students of public and private universities across the country waged a strong movement demanding reform in the quota system.
In the face of the movement, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced in Parliament on April 11 the abolition of all types of quotas in government jobs.
