‘Company-based bus service to be initiated, success in 2yrs’

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has expressed his hopes that the committee formed to bring discipline in public transport, rationalize bus route and initiate company-based bus service in Dhaka will be able to bring success in next two years.

The mayor expressed his hopes while addressing a press conference at Nagar Bhaban in the capital on Monday.

The government on Sunday formed a 10-member committee to come up with work plan for disciplining public transport, rationalizing bus route and initiating company-based bus service in Dhaka.

Local government division has issued a notification with regard to the formation of the committee today.

DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon has been made convener to the committee while Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) panel mayor made its joint convener

Sayeed Khokon said, “It can be possible to reduce road accidents if general people become conscious. Traffic congestion will come down if transports are parked following the existing rules.”
