Complaint filed over Shahbagh cop assault on journos

Staff Correspondent: A complaint has been filed with Shahbagh Police Station over the police assault on two journalists of private television channel ATN News at Shahbagh during a half-day shutdown called for the cancellation of Rampal power plant near the Sundarbans on Thursday.

ATN News Staff Reporter Ishan Bin Didar and its cameraperson Abdul Alim came under attack while covering news of anti-Rampal power plant shutdown of green activists.

Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique on Friday noon confirmed the complaint filed by Mosharraf Alam Siddique, deputy manager of ATN News.

Police authorities have already suspended Assistant Sub-Inspector Ershad of Shahbagh Police Station and identified some other police officials including constables Mokhlesur, Hossain Kabir and Sabuj Khan for their alleged involvement in the incident.
