Condition of Pilot Abid's wife unchanged

Staff Correspondent: The condition of Pilot Abid's wife Afsana Khanam is unchanged and still critical, doctors said on Tuesday.

Afsana Khanam, the widow of Abid Sultan, who piloted the US-Bangla flight that crashed in Kathmandu, was put on life support.

In a press conference, doctors of National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital made the announcement.

Professor Dr Badrul Alam, joint director of the hospital said that the brain of the patient is not working. But, the other organs including kidney, heart are functioning well.

"The overall condition of Afsana Khanam is unchanged and she is in critical condition now," he added.

Earlier on Sunday morning (March 18), Afsana suffered a stroke at her Uttara residence in Dhaka. Her family members took her to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Agargaon.

Later, the doctors conducted surgery again on her immediately after she suffered a brain stroke for second time on Monday.
