'Country’s literacy rate now 72.9'

Senior Correspondent: Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman said that the country’s literacy rate is currently 72.9 which was 72.3 in last year.

The Minister said this at a press briefing on “International Literacy Day-2018” at the Secretariat on Thursday.

He said, “Country’s literacy rate has been increasing day by day by the relentless efforts of the government. It is now 72.9 which was 72.3 in last year.”

In reply to the query how long the Primary Education Completion (PEC) examination will carry on, the minister said, “The examination will run till the government uphold the decision.”
