ICT summons Mymensingh Police Super

Staff Correspondent: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Tuesday summoned Superintendant of Police (SP) of Mymensingh for his explanation over a probe report submitted to it mentioning a dead person as a fugitive accused.

A two-member bench of the tribunal headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam passed the order.

The SP has been asked to appear before the tribunal on February 16. The tribunal also sought explanations from Inspector General of Police in this regard.

Earlier, on January 11, the tribunal framed five charges of crimes against humanity against Waz Uddin and his partner in crimes Reaz Uddin Fakir. But Waz Uddin actually died on May 7, 2016, seven months before the submission of the charge sheet.

Later, the tribunal expressed its discontent over continuing trial proceedings against Md Waz Uddin of Mymensingh even after his death and asked to investigate to find out the culprits behind the blunder.
