‘Culprits being arrested seeing video footage’

Staff Correspondent: “Those who are involved in the attack on police in the High Court area are being arrested seeing video footages. No innocent people are being harassed in this connection,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said.

The minister said this while talking to reporters after the inaugural ceremony of “Passport Service Week-2018” at Bangabandhu International Convention Center in the capital on Saturday.

Replying to a query, Asaduzzaman said, “Nobody is being harassed. Action is being taken against those who carried out attacks on police in the High Court area on January 30, broke rifles and tried to snatch the accused from police custody.”

On January 30, the law enforcers locked into a clash with the leaders and activists of BNP. At one stage, police detained two BNP men after over 300 leaders and activists of BNP gathered High Court Mazargate area and staged demonstration when the party chairperson was returning her residence in Gulshan through the area from a court at Bakshibazar in the capital.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was returning from a makeshift court after appearing before it in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.
