DMP bans procession on Feb 8

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a restriction on procession and carrying sharp weapons, explosives, flammable materials in Dhaka on February 8 to avoid any untoward incident centring a verdict in a graft case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
A press release signed by DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia has been issued in this regard on Tuesday.
The ban will be effective from 4:00am and continue until further notice, the press release said.
The decision came following intelligence and news reports that a quarter may carry out subversive activities on that day centring the court verdict.
The verdict in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and four others will be announced on February 8.
