DMP's traffic guideline for Biswa Ijtema

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued directives on traffic and vehicle parking to ensure smooth movements of people during Bishaw Ijtema.

The two phases of the Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of the Muslims, began on Friday morning on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi, on the outskirts of the city, amid tight security.

DMP’s traffic department in a press release said that there will be road diversion on some entry points from February 16 to February 21. So, the vehicles have to use Hotel Radisson Gap or take u-turn on Kuril Bishwa Road or the flyover to go Pragati Sarani avoiding Airport Road. 

Vehicles heading to Abdullahpur from Ashulia will have to take Mirpur-Beribadh road after taking the right turn at intersection near Dhour Bridge.

All inter-district vehicles including busses, trucks and covered vans of Mohakhali bus terminal for Abdullahpur will ply Bijoy Sarani-Gabtoli road taking the left turn from Mohakhali intersection.

Parking Guidelines:
Chittagong Division: Gausulazom Avenue (from east end through west and to Garib Newaz Road of sector 13 of Uttara).
Dhaka Division: Sonargaon Janapath Chourasta to Diabari canal.
Sylhet Division: Khalpar of Uttara sector 15 to Diabari Golchattar.  
Khulna Division: Free areas of sector 17 and 18, Uttara, Dhaka.
Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh Divisions: Pratyasha Housing.
Barisal Division: BIWTA Landing Station near Dhour Bridge.
Dhaka Metropolitan: Shah Jalal Avenue, Uttara and Nikunja-1, Nikunja- 2 and adjacent areas.
