DNCC Mayoral By-polls: EC starts meeting

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) started a meeting over the by-election to the mayoral post and elections in the 18 new wards of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

The meeting started around 11:00am on Sunday at the Election Bhaban in the capital.

Sources said that the EC at its meeting would take decisions regarding the procedure to be adopted for holding the polls in the 18 new wards recently added to the DNCC jurisdiction. Besides, all the information over the updated voter list of these areas were kept ready.

It may be mentioned that the DNCC mayoral post has been declared vacant on November 30 after its mayor Annisul Huq passed away. According to the rules, EC is bound to hold the by-election within 28 February.
