DSE witnesses record turnover Monday

Economic Correspondent: Turnover at the country's main bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has crossed record Tk 21 billion-mark on Monday, the second trading day of the week.

 

Mutual funds and shares worth Tk 21807.94 million (21.80 billion) changed hands at DSE today.

 

The turnover is highest in last six and a half year. Earlier, DSE witnessed turnover of Tk 21229.20 million in 1 June 2010.

 

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 66.94 points or 1.19 percent to settle at 5669.79.


Of the 328 issues traded, 159 issues advanced, 142 declined and 27 remained unchanged on the DSE.


The two other indices also edged higher. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 11.18 points or 0.86 per cent to close at 1297.60.The DS30 comprising blue chips advanced 12.90 points or 0.64 per cent to close at 2024.63.


The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index - CSCX - advancing 140.32 points to settle at 10646.41.


Of the issues traded, 130 issues advanced, 116 declined and 23 remained unchanged on the CSE.


The port city bourse saw 43.71 million shares and mutual fund units worth over Tk 1,199.34 million traded.
