DU mourns Jagannath Hall tragedy

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka University (DU) Mourning Day is being observed on the campus on Monday, commemorating the students, employees and guests killed in a building collapse at the universities Jagannath Hall on the night of October 15 in 1985.
The authority started the day hoisting of black flags atop all main buildings including halls of the university 6:00am.
A mourning procession by the student, teachers, officers and employees of the university was brought out from the foot of Aparajeya Bangla at about 7:30am. Later, floral wreaths were placed at the memorial on the dormitory premises.
Apart from this, painting exhibition on the incident, blood donation camp, mourning song and poem recitation will also be held as parts of the programme of the mourning day.
Besides, an essay writing competition and art competition have been arranged which will end in October 31.
