DUET closed sine die

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) has been closed for indefinite period following the clashes in the institution.

DUET academic council in its 57th meeting took the decision on Wednesday.

The made students were asked to vacate their dormitories by this afternoon while female by 8:00am on Thursday.



University sources said that students of the varsity demanded to change their semester exam. But, the university VC refused to meet the demand. Following the issue, the agitated students took position on Gazipur-Shimultoli road and set fire on tyres blocking the road.

At one stage, the students broke the office, house of the varsity VC, six private cars, a jeep and seven motorcycles.

Additional police forces were deployed in the university campus.
