Death toll rises to 3 in Uttarkhan fire

Staff Correspondent: A woman, who sustained burn injuries in a fire from a leaked gas pipeline in capital's Uttarkhan, has died taking the death toll in the incident to three.

Sufia Begum, 50, succumbed to her injuries around 7:00am at the Dhaka medical College Hospital’s burns unit on Sunday.

Ninety-nine percent of Sufia’s body was burned in the fire. 

Earlier, two other burn victims named Azizul and Muslima died under treatment at the hospital on Saturday. 

Sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia of DMCH police outpost confirmed the matter.

On Saturday, the fire originated from a leak in the gas line around 4:00am on the ground floor of the three-storey building at Uttar khan’s Baperipara area, leaving eight people of a family.
