Senior Correspondent: The protesters on Monday took a decision to postpone their movement until May 7 following a government assurance to make ‘reasonable reform’ in the existing quota system.
The decision was taken after a fruitful meeting between a delegation of the government and a delegation of the agitating students at the Secretariat in the afternoon.
Rashed Khan, coordinator of Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, told this to media.
Earlier around 2:30pm, a 20-member delegation of the agitating students walked into the Bangladesh Secretariat to hold a meeting with Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
The meeting was held at the secretariat office of the road transport and bridges minister around 4:30pm.
Students of different universities across the country staged demonstrations on Sunday and Monday demanding that the exiting quota system in public service be reformed.
