Sir Frank Peters: Wednesday, October 10 marks the 40th day of mourning following the death of one of the most beloved and distinguished Bangladeshi holy men, Guru Suruj Dewan.

Guru Suruj who was born and raised in Haydarabad, Gazipur, devoted his entire life to serving the people of the area, spiritually and medically. He was a knowledgeable and gifted homeopathic doctor of high renown and held with profound respect by all. He cared for people above and beyond the call of duty and had patients from many surrounding villages go to him.

Guru Suruj was father to Anora Begum and Nasir Dewan from his first marriage and stepfather to Ali Akbar, Shaheda Azad, Ali Nawaz, Moriym Akter and Halima Sayed Badhan from his second wife.

He died of a bronchial illness peacefully on September 01 with his head on the left shoulder of his wife Begum Hamida Dewan. He was 78.

Prayers are requested for him by the family that God may grant him eternal rest, as he so richly deserves.
