Detained 7 DB men sent to jail

Cox's Correspondent: A court in Cox's Bazar on Thursday sent seven members of Detective Branch (DB) of police to jail, rejecting their bail prayers in a case filed for kidnapping a businessman.

The seven cops are- Sub-Inspectors Moniruzzaman, Abul Kalam Azad and Firoz Ahmad, Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) Mostafa and Alauddin, Constables Mostafa Azam and Al Amin.

Afruzul Haq Tutul, additional superintendent of Cox's Bazar Police said that the seven detainees were produced before the court.

Cox's Bazar court police Inspector Kazi Didarul Alam said the seven policemen were sent to jail after getting court order.

On Tuesday, the DB team abducted businessman Abdul Gafur from Cox's Bazar and demanded Tk 17 lakh as ransom. After receiving the money, the detectives freed him in Marine Drive area of Cox’s Bazar.

Later, informed by the victim’s family, the law enforcers halted a DB police’s vehicle at an army check-post in Lambari area of the Cox’s Bazar Marine Drive.
