Dhaka-Tongi-Joydebpur Dual-gauge track: Deal to be inked Tuesday

Secretariat Correspondent: A new double-gauge rail track along the Dhaka-Tongi-Joydebpur will be constructed to improve communication with eight more districts with the capital.

Railway Ministry sources said that following the issue a deal will be signed on Tuesday.

The new rail line will solve the regular rail line clearance problem in the route.

Indian financial institution Export Import Bank will provide financial support in the rail line project while Aarvee Associates Architects Private Limited and Ayesha Engineering institutions will work in the project as consultancy firm.

Shariful Alam, Senior Information Officer of the ministry said, the deal will be signed at Jamuna Conference Room of Railway Bhaban around 2:30pm on Tuesday.

Railways Minister Mujibul Haque and officials from the ministry of India will attend the function.

Mujibul Haque told risingbd.com that the communication with adjacent areas of Dhaka will be developed more following the new line. A secured, developed and quick communication will be formed between northern and southern parts of the country.
