‘Digital Security Act for stopping online malpractice’

Risingbd Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the Digital Security Law has been enacted to stop online malpractice.

“The act will work against grudge and dirtiness on social media,” she added.

The premier said this while addressing a press conference at her official residence Ganobhaban on Wednesday.

The press conference was arranged to brief journalists about the outcome of her recent weeklong visit to the United States to attend the 73rd UN General Assembly.

Sheikh Hasina said, “Cyber security has emerged one of the major problems across the world. Due to lack of cyber security, social dispute and family feud are being created and different types of problems and pornos are being spread on social media. We took the initiative in aiming to stop these.”

When Toufiq Imroz Khalidi, chief editor of bdnews24.com, asked PM that cricketer Liton Kumar Das posted a photo of ‘Durga Puja’ to express congratulations on his facebook page. Later, he had to remove the post due to bad and distorted comments. What steps would your government take against such incident?

PM replied that we enacted the cyber security act to face such incidents. This law is for stopping such dirtiness.

On September 27, Sheikh Hasina addressed the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN Headquarters in New York and held a meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
