'Diplomatic success gained as Myanmar changes its stance'

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader claimed Bangladesh has achieved a diplomatic success as the Myanmar government has backtracked from its previous stance on Rohingya issue.

The minister came up with the claim while addressing a press conference at a hotel in Cox's Bazar on Tuesday morning.

Myanmar earlier claimed Rohingyas as Bengali. They have no citizenship in Myanmar. They do not belong to that country. But today, the Myanmar government has backtracked from its stance on Rohingya issue, Quader said.

"Is it not a diplomatic triumph for Bangladesh? Is it not a victory of the government led by Sheikh Hasina," the minister added.

Quader said the Myanmar government has backtracked from its previous stance on Rohingya issue and assured Bangladesh of taking back its nationals who have fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar.
