Don’t know whether polls will be held: Ershad

Senior Correspondent: HM Ershad, Chairman of the United National Alliance (UNA), has expressed his doubt over holding the upcoming 11^th parliamentary election.

“We are in grave concern over holding the next polls. We don’t know whether the election will be held. A political party has given a seven-point demand which cannot be possible to implement as per the Constitution,” he said.

HM Ershad expressed his concern while addressing a public meeting organised by the UNA at the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday.

“I want to give a message to the people of this country. We will contest in all 300 seats in the next elections through the alliance,” Ershad, also the chief of the JP-led 58-party United National Alliance, added.

Ershad also asked the party leaders and activists to take preparation for contesting in all 300 constituencies.

The JP chairman urged the government to ensure proper environment for holding a free and fair election.

He also demanded the election-time government be formed with the political parties who have representatives in the parliament.
