Drive at Mirsarai militant den: 2 bodies recovered

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) have recovered two dead bodies from a suspected militant den at Zorarganj Thana under Mirsarai upazila.

The elite force has primarily called off the operation at the militant hideout in Sonapahar area of Zorarganj in the upazila after they recovered scattered body parts of two suspects following a blast at the house named ‘Chowdhury Mansion’, said Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of Rab’s legal and media wing.

The identities of the two deceased could not be known immediately.

Tipped off, members of Rab-7 cordoned off the militant den from early Friday, said Shafayat Jamil Fahim, commanding officer of Feni RAB-7 camp.

A huge explosion was heard there. The militants might have detonated a bomb themselves, RAB said.

According to the RAB, one AK-22 riffle, three pistols, five unexploded grenades were recovered from the house.
