Drug peddler killed in Mymensingh gunfight

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: A suspected drug dealer was killed in a “shootout” with DB police in Akua area of the Mymensingh town early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Payel, son of Jalal Uddin, hailed from Purohit para.

Shah Kamal Akanda, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch of police in Mymensingh said two police team went to Dargapara area on Sunday midnight. Meanwhile, 5-6 drug traders hurled brick-chips and opened fire. In reply, police also opened fire. Later, the law enforcers found bullet-hit Payel in the spot and sent him to Mymensigh Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

100 pieces of Yaba pills, 100 gram of heroin and nine rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot.

DB constable Jakir Hossain also received injury during the gunfight.
