Drug trader killed in Mymensingh 'gunfight'

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: A drug trader was killed in a gunfight with Detective Branch (DB) of Police in Kotwali thana area of the district town early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Sharif, hailed from Kristapur Daulatmunshi road of the town.
DB police said two teams of DB police conducted an anti-drug drive in the area at midnight. Meanwhile, a group of 5-6 drug traders attacked the police, leaving two policemen injured. In reply, police also opened fire. At one stage, the drug traders fled the scene.
Later, police recovered bullet-hit Sharif from the spot and sent him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge Shah Kamal Akanda said that Sharif was wanted in seven cases including extortion and drug case.
