Drug trader killed in Rupganj gunfight

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: A suspected drug peddler was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Purbachal upashor of Rupganj in the district early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Nadim alias Pachish Nadim. 

RAB-2 senior assistant director (ASP) Rabiul Islam said Nadim was a top drug peddler of Geneva Camp in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur.

Acting on a tip off, RAB personnel conducted a drive in the area. Sensing presence of RAB, drug traders opened fire aiming the law enforcers. In reply, RAB also opened fire, leaving Nadim bullet injured. Later he was rushed to Upazila Health Complex where he died under treatment.

RAB claimed Nadim used to run his drug business under disguise of different social works. He was enlisted as a top drug peddler. He stood accused in several cases including drug case.
