Drug trader killed in Tongi ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: A suspected drug trader has been killed in a "gunfight" with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Nadibandar area of Tongi.

The deceased was known as Ismail Hossain, 40, son of Rashed Mollah, hailed from Chandhat area of Nagarkanda in Faridpur district.

RAB-1 assistant police super Kamruzzaman said, a patrol team of RAB conducted the drive in the area. Meanwhile, drug traders opened fire aiming the law enforcers. In reply, the elite force also opened fire. Later, RAB found the bullet hit drug trader in the spot and sent him to Gazipur Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

A revolver, two rounds of bullet and 3,000 pieces of Yaba pills were seized from the spot.
