Drug trader shot in Rajshahi gunfight

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: A suspected drug trader sustained bullet injuries in a gunfight with police in Sahabdipur area under Godagari upazila of the district on early Tuesday.

The injured drug trader is identified as Ibrahim, 35, son of Israfil.

District police Additional Police Super (ASP) Abdur Razzak Khan said acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted drive in the area around 3:00am. Meanwhile, sensing law enforcers, drug traders opened fire. In reply, police also opened fire. Later, police rescued bullet-hit Ibrahim from the spot while other drug traders fled away.

A foreign made pistol, five rounds of bullets and 500 grams of heroin were recovered from the spot, ASP said.
