EC holds inter-ministerial meeting ahead of schedule

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) is going to hold an inter-ministerial meeting ahead of schedule announcement for 11th general election likely to be declared in first week of November.

The meeting for different preparatory activities of national parliamentary polls is set to be held on October 31 morning at the conference room of Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon.

EC additional secretary Mukhlesur Rahman said, “The meeting will be held among ministries concerned for their help to implement our all preparations. This is the final meeting for co-ordination.”

“Different issues including necessary reformation of voting centres, goods transportation, exam schedule review, loan defaulting information, removal of promotional contents in advance and security measures will be discussed in the meeting,” he added.

General manager of Credit Information Bureau of Bangladesh Bank, joint secretary and above officials of Local Government Ministry, Department of Armed Forces, Information Ministry, Ministry of Public Administration, Secondary and Higher Education Department of Education Ministry, Department of Public Safety under Ministry of Home Affairs, Technical and Madrassa Education Department, Financial Institution Division and Primary and Mass Education Department will attend the meeting.

Alongside, chief information officer of the Department of Information, directors of Postal Department, Department of Mass Communication, Directorate of Film and Publications, Bangladesh Television, director general of Bangladesh Betar, chief engineers of Local Government Engineering Department and Education Engineering Department, chairpersons of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board and Bangladesh Technical Education Board and director of Meteorological Department are also requested to attend the meeting.
