EC holds meet; Schedule announcement this evening

Staff Correspondent:  The Election Commission held a day-long meeting to finalise the schedule for the 11th parliamentary election.

The meeting was held from 11.00am to 12.00pm at the Election Commission Secretariat at Agargaon in the city.

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda presided over the meeting.

Election commissioners Mahbub Talukdar, Rafiqul Islam, Kabita Khanam, Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury and EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed were present at the meeting.

The meeting set the voting date and finalised the cut-off time for the submission and withdrawal of nomination papers and a detailed schedule for the polling day.

CEC Huda will speak on state-run television and radio at 7.00pm to announce the election schedule. His speech will be recorded before its broadcast.
