EC planning to deploy army at EVM equipped booths

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) is mulling a plan to deploy army at the polling centres equipped with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to ensure technical support and security.

EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed came up with the disclosure at the commission office in Agargaon area in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

He said, “The EC is planning to deploy army at the polling booths equipped with EVMs for providing technical support and security alongside as a striking force.”

The EC has undertaken a plan in this regard without holding any elaborate discussion over the issue, Helal said adding that the issue is now under consideration.
