Staff Correspondent: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has been urged to apologise to nation for his recent much-talked-about remarks about receiving bribe.
Independent Member of the Parliament Tahjib Alam Siddique made the call at the Parliament on Tuesday.
Standing on a point-of-order in the House Tahjib Alam Siddique said Nahid should resign since the present government’s image took a major hit by the minister’s “very controversial” comments.
At a programme in the city, the minister urged the government officials to receive bribe at tolerable level.
Facing barrages of criticism from different quarters of the society, the minister several days later claimed at a press conference in his ministry that he was “misquoted” and his comments were “taken out of context.”
